From my backyard

I missed a couple of days of taking pictures. I didn't really have a reason other than just being busy some and being lazy some. In other words, just taking my time and enjoying what is going on around me.

Sometimes we need to to that, just slow down and take it all in. Here for four pics to ponder.( Like that word- ponder)

Odd Angles

Today, as part of my idea of learning more about black and white pictures, I have these for you to gander at. They were all taken at odd angles. Hmm, I like them, maybe they fit my weird sort of view of things from time to time.

Can you guess what they are?

I came across the law of holes. It says the first law of holes is to know when to stop digging when you are in a hole. Now, if there is a first law, then naturally there should be law # 2. Anyone know what it is?

Water and Reflections

Water can be very interesting. I came across these reflections and couldn't resist. The question is where do you think I was when I took these?

A Day Trip

I got up this morning to spend part of the day with my friends, Tom and Sharon, at Piney Woods Encampment, near Corrigan, Texas. Tom needed some help with installing a new bath tub in his rv. While I was there I took a few pictures. It was a great day being out in the piney woods enjoying creation.

An empty chair waiting for someone

                                                                  A lonely road

A bridge that needs to be crossed

Everyday Items

They are all around me. It's those items we use all the time, things like a cup of water, or bottle of water. So in looking for pictures, I took photos of a couple of the things I used today.

Shapes and Objects

In trying to develop my "eye" so to speak for things around me as I photograph, I am finding out there are pictures everywhere, if I will just look, really look. With that in mind, I am trying to take a few pictures everyday of various things. Some shapes can be really amazing, others, well quite boring and plain. Any guesses as to what these shapes are?

Random

A foot, tables, power outlets, they are all random things, with no real connection. Yet each are important in their own way.

Two thoughts: First does life really have to be random, with no plan or design.
Second, everything is of some value, importance, and of use.

What's your purpose. Do you have a plan? You are of value.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Tuesday Reflections

More black and white photo's for you. I took these while in the school parking lot getting ready for work. Reflections, I call them. We are all reflections of something. In other words, when people look at you, what do they see? Do they see beauty or handsomeness, maybe it's anger or sadness. Maybe however you are like these photo's, you see life a little different from everyone else. I know I do. My students think I am a little weird, and I like it that way. Ha! Ha!

"When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor *reflection* as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13

Another Sunday

Being a regular at church, and also someone who knows what goes on behind the scenes, so to speak, there are times I get tickled at church. People say things like, "It's too hot, or I'm too cold. The music is too loud, or I can't hear, and they are all in the same room." Ha! and of course, the minister's sermons are always too long! I just laugh and chuckle. We can be so funny sometimes.

I did hear a new saying yesterday," Too much butter for the butter dish." My interpretation- too much of a good thing. Speaking of sayings, my dad says, " Well John Brown" when he gets excited about something. I don't really know what it means, but I smile when he says it. If anyone knows the meaning, I would like to hear it.

I posted some more pictures. This time I adjusted the contrast and brightness a little. I thought the others were a little flat. Feel free to comment about my weird photos.

B&W- Starting From the Beginning.

I've got this point and shoot Canon camera that I have never really done much with, so, I am going to start using it to learn more about black and white photography. What do I know about it? Not much, but I know what I like when I see it. Now the rub is how to get those same results. Here are some pic's. What do you think?

Well, I do like how some of them came out. These are all straight out of the camera with no post processing. I do think a couple of them might need to be adjusted just a little for contrast and brightness, but a good start.
